Quality fish better than numbers

I feel like a quarterback who completed 20 passes to eight different receivers. I caught a fish today on seven different flies. No one fly was consistent and I had to keep changing to stay ahead of the game. I'd change, hook a fish immediately and figure I'd solved the mystery. But often that would be the only fish I caught on that fly. Sometimes I'd catch two or three fish.

Most of the fish were quality fish: hand-sized bluegill and nice bass. I found the bass schooling in the afternoon in the old river channel in Lake Manatee. What I had to do was drift until they started exploding on minnows, then try to get close enough for a cast.

Not a great day in terms of numbers (17 bluegill, 5 bass), but a very enjoyable outing.

Hi Gang!
Is that gill considered a long ear gill also? Just wondering. Until last year I thought there were only 5 or 6 different type of gills. I am learning alot looking at these posts.
