What's are they eating?
Everything i can think of. Flys, small minnow baits., heck even down to a simple worm on a hook and it dont matter he wont take it..I think this is the Alpha of the pond we sit and watched him chase away a nice size Bass yesterday. Just cant figure out what he wants.
See if you can bounce a jig off his head and tick him off enough to strike.
how big if a jig should i try i mean i have big ones for bass fishing but no small ones..God i want him hes gotta be almost 14 inches long and the size of a dinner plate.
14 inches! I would try a 1/16 oz jig to start out with and see what he does. Or see what the other BG are doing around him too. Either an artificial grub in a subtle color if you're just looking for a reactionary strike, or a crawler piece to see if he'll eat. See what other responses you get here though. There are far better anglers on this site than me.
Ive tried crawlers he kinda just looks and laughs at it..Blue gill is the only fish ive fished for that i dont have a trophy of so this guys kinda getting to me.
Combine the crawler with a jig and vary the movements to see what reactions you get. Since you can see him that gives you a tremendous advantage. Start slow, just dancing it around him, then gradually creep it in on his head, still slow. If he's still not interested, increase the movements and get more aggressive. Gradually though. Don't scare him off.
appreciate it im gonna give it a shot tonight.
Take a camera. ;)
drop a cricket at him. Gills big or little love crickets
with one that big should i use a larger cricket or does it matter
I would have to ask what time of day it is that you are trying to catch him? I would try at first light when he hasn't had a chance to feed on anything yet, and not near a full moon when he had much light to feed at night. At first light, drop a big cricket on his head. If that doesn't work......I better stop here or I'll get you in trouble.
