Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

It’s NO Contest
But everyone can wet a line. There will be winners and losers! The winner’s lines are all wet. The losers don’t have any lines. What are we fishing for? Big Bluegill Christmas Jingles.

It’s NO Contest will be your version of Christmas jingles, songs or poems that are now about Big Bluegills. Just change the words to songs and such you already know. Change the words, change the meaning, but keep the tune.

Here’s a starter for anyone who wants it. It’s “The Night Before Christmas” With A “Big Bluegill” twist.

T’was the night before Christmas and out in the pond
Big Bluegill were feasting on crawdads and frogs
When up on the surface……. Somebody have a go at that one

One more freebie, to the tune of O Holy Night.

Oh Big Bluegill, my lure is so bright and shiny……If you can tie your own flies or present your lure so that the big ones can’t help but bite, you can finish this song. Just take a Christmas tune you already know and change it to something about Big Bluegill. It helps to have the words to the original so you can refer to it to help you along. This link has a lot of song lyrics. http://www.worldofchristmas.net/christmas-carols/index.html.

Start now in your word processor. Edit it, play with it and worry it until it’s just right. Then when you’ve got it like you want it, copy & paste your entry right in one of these reply boxes.

Come on. Everybody get their lines all wet!

We’re makin’ a list, checkin’ it twice
We’re all gonna know if you did or didn’t try
It’s No Contest
So give a great Big Bluegill try

Tune: I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

I Saw Mommy Catch A Big Bluegill

I saw mommy catch a big bluegill
Right before daddy’s astonished eyes
He didn’t see her flip
Her bait to the spot he’d just left
He was rebating from the missed bite that he had just felt

Then I saw mommy catch that big bluegill
While daddy watched with eyes so big and wide
Oh what a laugh it would have been
If daddy had only seen
The tactics of his sneaky fishin’ buddy bride
Tune: Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer

Rudy The Red Breasted Bluegill

Rudy, the red breasted bluegill
Had what is called a helmet head
And if you ever hooked him
You’d think you had a catfish instead

All of the little bluegills
Used to laugh and call him names
They wouldn’t let poor Rudy
Join in any fisherman games

Then one bright and sunny day
Bluegillboogieman came to say
Rudy if you’ll take a bite
You and I will have a great fight

Then you won’t believe what happened
Rudy pulled Ole Boogie in the drink
Then he just started wrappin’
That line around the Boogieman’s feet

Boogieman was floppin’ and flailin’
Rudy had him tied up tight
Said he wasn’t scared of no boogieman
He didn’t put up much of a fight

Then how the little gills loved him
As they shouted praise and all that
Rudy the Boogieman Conqueror
Where can we get a helmet like that
Tune: I’ll Be Home For Christmas

With A Little Bit Of Hound Dog

I’ll be home for Christmas
I swear I ain’t going fishing
Now don’t get all choked
But I got you a new boat
I just can’t get it under the tree

Christmas Eve will find me
Making sure your new boat don’t leak
I might even have you a big bluegill
A trophy you won’t have to clean

Oh! Ow! Ouch! Honey! Baby! I’ll be good! I’ll be good!

Ladies and gentlemen, Boogieman has left the building……he’s out in the dog house.

He ain’t nuthin but a bluegill hound
Just a fishin’ all the time
He ain’t nuthin but a bluegill hound
Just a fishin’ all the time

He ain’t never caught a big one
But it ain’t ‘cause he ain’t been tryin’

Well she thought he was high class
But that was just his fishin’ line
Yeah she thought he was high class
But that was just his fishin’ line

He ain’t never caught a big one
And he’s probably gonna die from tryin’
Tune: Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire

Bluegills Cooking In A Deep Fat Fryer

Bluegills cooking in a deep fat fryer
Drinks in the ice chest getting cold
You should’ve seen stories being told by a liar
And tales of ones that got away never getting old

Everybody knows hushpuppies and homemade cole slaw
Help to make the eating right
Tiny tots with their wondrous looks of awe
Wishing they could go bluegill fishing sometime

They know that Santa’s on his way
He’s loaded lots of poles and crickets on his sleigh
And every mother’s child knows that someday
They’ll get to see if bluegill really fight as good as they say

And so, I’m offering this simple praise
To those who fish lakes, streams and ponds
Although it’s been said many times many ways
Thanks for sharing on Big Bluegill dot com

And Merry Christmas from the Boogieman to Y’all

I love this!!

Tune:  All I want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth

All I want for Christmas is a 10" Gill

Every passing day feels colder to me

those gill are just as still as can be

Don't know who to blame for this castastrophe

But my wish on Christmas  is plain as can be

All I want for Christmas

is a 10" bluegill

a 10" bluegill

a 10" bluegill

Gee, if I could only

catch a 10" bluegill

then I could wish you

"Merry Christmas"

Even though I set there faithfully

It seems so long since I caught any

Gosh oh gee, how happy I'd be

if I could only post one caught by me

Wish I got into this earlier .The entries are great!

To the tune 'Rockin' around the Christmas Tree'

Rowin' around in  the ol' rowboat

called in sick to work

Trollin in rain till I am soaked

to find where fish do lurk

Rowin' around in  the ol' rowboat

catching  lot's of fish

I'll be eatin' them later on

nothing more that I could  wish

Then you feel the movement

on the end of your rig

Shouting 'Fish on' to your buddy

Get the net out ,this is nutty

Rowin' around in  the ol' rowboat

we caught a hundred gills

callin in sick tomorrow too

cause I aint had my fill

Dang!  Mine was REALLY funny! :-)

roflmao  Ya guys are good    John any recording releases you do from these you're going to have to cut the site in on.

It's beginning to look a lot like Ice fishin'

Here in New Jersey ;
The Tackle stores have their stock, complete with Electric socks

solid and  safe ice is  soon to come

It's beginning to look a lot like Ice fishin' ,
checking all the gear

But the finest song sung ,regards the first gill that is brung

 out the first productive hole

An array of tipups and poles are  the wishes of Stinkbait and snagger

lures that catch, hook and fetch are  the hopes of these artful braggers

And beer stays cold in the snow without any problem at all

It's beginning to look a lot like Ice Fishin'

more and more each day

the colder it stays at night

the sooner will be the bite

of the hungry ones that are the first to show

It's beginning to look a lot like Ice Fishin';
Soon the flags will fly
And the thing that will make them spring ,is the fish  that the bait  brings

up the hole to you!

great songs guys and gals, I got one originally about a lunker walleye, but i will change it to big big bluegill for this thread, merry Christmas! :)

Rudolph the big big bluegill

had a very shiny gill

and if you ever saw it,

you would probly think your ill

all of the other bluegills

used to stare in disbelief

they never let poor rudolph

bed on any bluegill reef!

then one foggy christmas eve

Santa came to say

Rudolph with your gills so bright

why don't you bite my jig tonight!

then santa hooked ol rudolph

guess this just was not his day

rudolph the big big bluegill

your about to get filllayyyyyyyed!

O COME ALL YE BLUEGILL

TO THE BOAT I SIT IN

COME YE OH COME YE TO MY MEALWORM

LET DOWN YOUR DEFENSE ,PUT UP A FIGHT THAT'S INTENSE

I HOLD YOU ON ONE POUND TEST

I HOLD YOU ON ONE POUND TEST

I HOLD YOU ON ONE POUND TEST

FEISTY BLUEGILL
