Do you love big bluegill?

I am a shore fishman, while in Florida I caught nice BG's (4 was a meal for 2 people) on Blue Fox Vibrax size 0 (7/64 oz) fishing from shore. While home, I been trying but only catching small BG's and bass. Fished shallow, in timber, deep off weed beds, spinners and worms ... zero.
I am fishing at Banner Marsh State Fish & Wildlife Area (old strip mining area). I have gone back into ponds and areas that get light fishing pressure (lots of ticks). Anyone fish this area? Any suggestions? Thanks!!!
