I'll take a stab at it. Crystal clear water? If you can see the fish, then they can probably see you. Don't fish right out in front of yourself, try fishing some distance off to one side. Downsize your presentation, try some maggots (spikes) for bait on a size 14 or 16 hook. If it's Bluegills you're after, I would try attaching the smallest float you can find, and suspending the bait 2-3' below it.

If there's any structure or weeds, that would be where I would start. Or my personal favorite, under overhanging tree limbs. You may find it easier to use a cane type rod, especially if precision placement of the bait is required, such as into brush, or emergent weeds.

Since the water is so clear, have you tried fluorocarbon line? It has the same refractive index as water, making it effectively invisible in clear water.

Plus, everything Tony said :)

I think Tony hit it right on the head. Most of the water I fish is clear. If you can see down in the water the fish can definitely see you. If your fishing from shore and you have greenery behind you ware Camo. If there is no greenery you need to keep a low profile and ware light blue. The most important thing is long parallel casts from shore.  The long parallel casts work for me especially fishing in my pond. Try these out they will help you with your catch ratio.

Late evening and early morning, and in Houston area try after dark, on a full moon can be fun!!!!

Thanks guys will try the flourocarbon line

and camo or a ghillie suit : ) i use pencil floats the thill shy bite so i think thats ok.

The maggots well lets say im trying wax worms next (the wife wont be happy about maggs)

and 1/64 jig.

what are fish spooking colors? reds
