fishing for bream with a jig pole?

i have found that when the bream spawn everyone want to use crickets and worms but when this happen i quickly switch over to my jig pole that i have for crappie and ill catch as many fish if not more fish then they will using artificial jigs these jig are size 1/32

I too have started using my Wally Marshall (BassPro), 12 ft jig pole for gills.Works great! Just not a sensitve as my 8 ft panfish stinger.

Can someone explain to this neophyte, the difference between a "jig pole" and whatever the alternative may be. Evidently I've been doing things wrong all these years and didn't even know it. Must be why I rarely catch anything.
