Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

i have a sister thread over at pondboss, and thought something similar would be cool here....

this fish was caught by a guy on another fishing forum i am a member of. i thought y'all would get a kick out of it.

the pondboss experts (thanks bruce and others) believe this fish to have mixed RES and BG genetics. it weighed over 2 lbs and was caught in a private community lake outside the sacramento area....feel free to chime in with more ID opinions.........thanks

man this thing is a PIG!

That is an absolutely amazing fish, and it does appear to be a red-ear/bluegill hybrid. Wow, we sure are seeing a lot of big hybrid sunfish species showing up on this site! This fish seems to have the body profile that most resembles the red-ear. Great, great fish!
These fish exhibit "aspects of lepomis". That, and they're beautiful.
ha ha!!

i see what you did there mr. chaser :)

when i have some more time, i'll keep adding to the thread. norcal waters grow some nice fish.
