Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Back in the old days the old mountain men would get together for a rendevous  , Tootie and I were just wondering who would be interested and like to join us in early Sept on Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee  for a Old fashion bluegill rendevouis . This wont be a fishing tournament but just a BBG get together for a good time catching fish, eating good, swapping flies and lies.  Does this not sound like too much fun ! We arn't getting any younger, let us know what you think!   LOFR

Mc Scruff ??  you gonna be able to make it ??

Only in spirit Sir

Johnny , that"s great, cant wait for yall to get there, I sure anybody there will  be more than happy to share their knowledge  in any way. I have been accused of  " If it has eyeballs I can fillet it " with an electric knife, but I like whole fish too I have spoiled my family with filets , they cant handle bones. Have a safe trip getting there , we plan on having fun and eats. LOFR

Was hope'n you could make it Scruff, thers always next time, maybe the next one can be held in your neck of the woods.

It'll be late Fri night before we get there, wifey gets off work at 5pm, so I have it planned to be prepacked & road ready then pick her up enroute, guestimating about at least a 5/6 hour drive straight thru.

Judy at the resort told me an oufit down the road rents boats but we can bring our own if we want, thought about it myself, anyone gonna bring thers ??

Love the planning and "making ready."
Y'all gonna have sum good time!

We'll have to copy a pic of your avatar & tape to a chair, maybe place a plate of fish in the seat...

Sure that'll work.
And when you guys get skunked - just put a beer there!
Sum fun!!

keith said he was going to bring his ,and I know I'm going to bring mine . LOFR

might want to use their boats.reelfoot is shallow and real stumpy.people that fish it often know where the channels are, plus you dont have to pull your boat for 5 hours.just my 2 cents .if i go again my boat stays here .but being where i am we are partial to deep Vs.with long shafts.they gave us a nice stout jonboat with a 9.9 and it was great.dont think you need more than 8 feet of anchor rope in reel foot.

Yes common sense rules when you fish stumpy lakes , you go slow and have a spotter up front looking for underwater hazards, Reelfoot is not the only lake that was made the day of the New Madrid Earthquake shook the ground, I live on top of the New Madrid fault, we have the same type of waters over here in Eastern Arkansas and fishing these Sunken Lands  with stumps galore in not a big problem if you use common sense , stumps are structure and fish love them, that's  where they will be .   LOFR

i agere LOFR.just saw some guys rack up their  boats and lower units.shear pins an an extra prop aint a bad idea.we have plenty of shallow rocky rivers here with strong current.lot of guys use jet drives .reel foot is a very big lake and we had no cell service when i was there about 8 yrs ago.have always wanted to go back.might try this spring.wish i could make this trip but have way too many things going on

Ok, here it is, T minus  7 days, this time next week I will be leaving for Reelfoot  Lake  for our first  Bluegill Rendezvous, going to be lots of fun so dont be left out , there is still plenty of room  for those that want to come and plenty of fish in the lake . There will be food , fun , friendship, and fish, what could be more fun.  LOFR
