Big Gills Thru the Ice

It hasn't been red hot action but getting a few giant gills in deep water.

 

Deadsticking with a tiny jig and waxies has produced equally well as fishing plastics aggressively.  Plastics seem to be taking slightly smaller fish.

 

Heading back out tomorrow.

That is a beautiful Bluegill in your photo. 

I have found that the gitzit micro tough guy tube tipped with a waxworm produces many of my best Bluegill, Yellow Perch and Crappie through the ice.

That crappie is repulsively big!!! How big?

The Crappie was 17 1/4" long.  I released her so I did not get a weight.
