Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Bruce is gonna love this!

So here we sit. Its fri. night and our fishin buddy just called and said he can't make it. You have made the calls to those few that you trust and none can go so all thats left is go alone or drag the ole lady out. Me personaly deep down I hate to admit I love it when she goes. Ive gotta get the fish off, shes complainin about the bugs, why aren't we catchin fish, I shoulda brought a book she says. Some don't bait crickets, Some don't touch worms......... How did you get her to bait her own hook? How did you get her to take her own fish off the hook when she caught it? And if she did how do you tell her when and where not to fish, what to use because..... lets call it beginners luck.... SHES OUTFISHIN YOU! Shes catchin bass instead of crappie, Catfish instead of bream but regardless shes catchin fish. What I wanna know is how do you get her up at 4 am and tell her quit puttin her makup on its time to go. How do Yall get her to bait her own hook? Take her own fish off? Help clean the catch? And at the same time cut the tatters and get the fixins ready while cleanin the house and takin care of the youngens at the end of the day.

Thank God for good Women!

I dated my wife for two years, and never really seriously considered asking her to marry me, but then she pulled out the perfect line...

"Honey", she says, "Can you get me some neoprene waders for my birthday?".

Well, that did it. I wasn't gonna let that woman get away!

Now every time we go fishing I expect her to outfish me in some way, so you're not alone, brother--but here's how I get my revenge.

When we've been fishing for a couple of hours, she'll say something like "Bruce, can we go back to the cabin so I can go to the bathroom?"

And I'll say "Sure honey, as soon as I go five casts without a fish."

Sure enough, on the fourth or fifth cast from there on out, I'll hook a fish, and it will nearly drive her insane.

By the way, when I'm lucky enough to go fishing, which is pretty often, I'd better be cleanin' the house when I get home.

...and she won't bait a hook, but I'm workin' on that.
This year was the girls second year of fishing, they are currently 6, 5, and 4..... My wife had fished before meeting me, but nothing serious, don't think she baited her own hook before me. Last year I bought the girls some barbie rods and went out to a gill lake, they were biting so fast that my ultra lite didn't hit the water that day, and the girls were loving it. The next time we went, same thing, but the girls got bored after a while and began playing on the dock and rocks, I got some fishing in with the ultra lite while Nicole played around with one of the barbie rods, I looked at the smile on her face, and then told her to take my ultra lite, it took a bit to show her to cast a spinning reel. Then she got a good cast, I saw the bobber go down with a big 9" gill, and the smile on her face went ear to ear for the whole fight, what was her mothers day gift? Her own ugly stik ultra lite spinning combo, she's been hooked ever since.

My wife and oldest Kenz with a double catch!

Alyssa, and her killer smile

Paige, my youngest

With the girls, I started them young, with the wife, I got her into some decent fish! after that, the excitment did the rest. It helps that they have decided they like to eat fish, and to prove they are brave and ready to try new things, they even let Bruce talk them into eating frog legs, what a evening that was!

Jeremy, that is one heck of a stringer! NICE EATING!

She baited her own hook and took her own fish off this weekend.
You guys catch an amazing number of fish! That's unbelievable!
well speakin' as the woman....I started fishing with my dad around 5-6yrs, didn't bait my own hook then, but learned all of it BEFORE I even met my hubby.....I bait the hook, take em off the hook, know how to clean and filet them...and I still take care of the house and kids....I actually asked for a new combo this year, because they had them with PINK and PURPLE reels...LOL still gotta have that girly touch...I'm always ready to get up at 4am to get the good catch!!! But I don't put on makeup....
it's good to know that a good, out fishes her hubby woman is appreciated!!!!!
My wife doesn't like to touch them. I have, just for her, purchased some long hemostats that she can use to unhook the fish. She likes that a lot. She is, for the most part, a fair-weathered fisherwoman. But, Dang! She is darn good at CATCHING fish, especially when I am not!

One good thing about having my wife go fishing with me is her hands are much smaller then mine. She can make a 8" BG appear much larger then in my mitts.

This picture really captures the fun of fishing for bluegill.
My wife doesnt fish, but I have these gals totally and completely hooked on fishing! My daughter is 3 and my nieces are completely addicted as well. You can also check out more photos of these gals with fish at Nate's Fishing Blog

I think getting us girls out there young with uncles, dads, or grandpas is the key for the girls to LOVE it as much as the guys!!!
My wife pretty much hates fishing and won't go at all. Doesn't help that she has developed sun allergies over the years and can't stay out long anyway. That said, I've got a niece that absolutely loves fishing. Pretty much does everything herself - casts, baits, unhooks (for the most part). Notice who controls the cricket cage in the top left photo (right under her knee - LOL). The photos below were from a bluegill trip we did back in August.

I have no problem with the wifey. She has been fishing for a long time. Some days she out fishes me. I'm just glad she loves to fish. We are really thinking of entering a couples competition on the weekends. Plus, she takes care of the kids while we all are fishing giving me that relaxation I get from fishing. All said and done God gave me the perfect woman (fisherqueen).
