New Jersey Natives:

Catostomidae
Creek Chubsucker Erimyzon oblongus Native Fresh G5 S4 This widely distributed species is an important forage fish and is particularly sensitive to siltation.
Northern Hog Sucker Hypentelium nigricans Native Fresh G5 S3 Special Concern Common in neighboring states of PA and NY, it is rarely encountered in NJ and seems limited to the Delaware River and a few of its northern coldwater streams.
Quillback Carpiodes cyprinus Native Fresh G5 S4 Limited primarily to the Delaware and Raritan Rivers, this sucker species is easily identified by its tall dorsal fin.
White Sucker Catostomus commersonii Native Fresh G5 S5 Very abundant in most rivers and streams outside of the Pinelands, and frequently account for the much of the biomass in the aquatic ecosystem.

I want to target them in a certain lake that is near me.

Dont know much about fishing them though . I know they are early spawners that'll come up creeks from lakes shortly after iceout . Ya think thats the best time to go after them or would a post spawn return to the lake be better?
