the best bait is mullet or live minnows ive caught alot of gar and this is the biggest one so far and alligator gar are the biggest of the species

I have yet to catch one of these, have the shortnose, longnose, and spotted off the list but not this monster.

thanks guys it was 3ft long and estimated at 17 or 18 pounds and yes u can eat them there are a bunch of recipies but the most common is fried and garfish balls and roast for the big gar and wicked is right
