Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

To get my wife in the boat I have to agree to put out a couple chicken necks on a string for a Blue Crab bounty........nice afternoon on the water.......nothing better than crispy bluegill filets and homemade crab cakes...........

Like fishing tracy.....some days are better than others.........water temperatures over 80 are best which gets the crabs crawling and looking for food..........I most often just tie chicken on string and let it drag the bottom .........once a crab gets it , they begin to swim with it which in turn tightens up the line.......pull it in slow and scoop them up...........most will hold on for dear life but others are wise and may let go for a myriad of reasons.....e.g. the sun's rays, wave action etc......it's fun and we often catch 50 a piece on a trip which is the limit per day per person recreational crabbing..........I rarely buy crabs as I catch enough to enjoy all season and freeze some as well........
