Neal, I forgot something: you can use a red-dyed bucktail, like I use, or red floss. Either one works just fine. Also, either black or brown soft hackle.
Neal, I hope you have as fantastic a response from your fish as mine have give me! They just can't leave it alone! Went out to Lake Raven (Huntsville State Park in Texas) today, and caught over a dozen in a half hour! People are starting to make fun of me because whenever they ask what fly I'm using, I respond with "What else?"
Greg, you're absolutely right! I don't know just what it is about herl, but fish just can't stay away from it!
