they used to allow us ,well unofficially to put xmas trees on the ice with weights tied on the trunks.my club banned this practice but a few beaver families are doing a bang up job of restoring some structure.also some wind storms have helped

Ive been thinking about trying to do some work on a few local ponds and lakes, just to see what happens, some of the lakes used to have plenty of cover but over the years its rotted away and no one has tried to put man made cover in, but I wanted it all to be in justthe rite spot so the fish would get the most bennifit from it, this video answered several questions I had.

Big thanks for the info.

Please remember to plan such structure with an eye towards safety, especially when right off a dock. There's been more than one tragedy when jumping off a dock on a hot summer day. Uprights driven into the lake bottom might impale an unsuspecting swimmer.

Not saying that's the case here, just a friendly admonition to please be careful.

GOOD SOUND ADVISE CJ;; DONT FORGET;; CRAPPIE LOVE WOOD TO !  HERE IN THE SOUTH;; WE USE CHRISTMAS TREES; PALLETS; CONCRETE BLOCKS;;; YOU NAME IT TO CREATE HABAT FOR FISH

New to sight. Big into fly fishing for gills.  I found this old video about hab for fish and wanted to make two comments.  10 concrete blocks can be costly.  Why not use half of a pallet on each end and then add big rocks for weight?  The video shows they have some big rocks on site.

The following has worked wonders for my two ponds in southern Il.  In 4-6ft of what I drove pipe, old bed rails, etc in the ground or water. Most we built when lake- pond was built. I would slide 2 or 3 pallets over pipe and add a concrete blocks. Repeat to the top.  you not only will catch bluegill, but bass love these piles of pallets.   I have one pile just off my deck and garage door.  Most days, other than winter, I can walk out my garage and with 3 cast I can catch a 2-4 lb bass.  Same is true for 3-4 bluegill.   I have about 10  of these pallet piles in the pond-lake behind my house.  When I built the new pond I added about 25 pallet pales because the work so well.   This a small amount of the total structure.  You may want to try it.

Bumping up this fun video. Very cool. Kenny, what lake are you talking about, Cunningham?

There is an old lake here in Omaha getting a much needed "makeover". I wish we (as anlgers) could get involved in something like this to help boost fish growth. Thanks for the video!
