Those first versions of that jig used some painted-gold jig heads, of which I have since run out of. Now, I'm powder-painting the jigheads Chartreuse.
Jim, that tapered body is done with a few white marabou barbs trimmed from the feather, tied in at the tip, twisted into a rope, then wrapped around the hook. I'm using Ostrich Herl now, gives it a more even look, although that tapered look is good as well.

yes-- gold head;; 1/80th jig;; fished it today-- using a POPPING BUG and this jig as a dropper!!! about 2 feet behind the popper!!
