Cold Weather Bobbers...Pole N Line Anglers Take Note

Black Knight Industries has a host of FrogHair strike indicators that, even though a fly fishing item, may well be ideal for some cold gillin'. The spinning angler can get by with shorter casts up to 30 ft. Quickly adjustable.

never was a fan of those rubber stoppers, just my preference.when using them in the past the line seemed to slice them and they dry like a rubber band.i like the old foam or balsa floats with a hole thru en secured by a toothpick.loy easier with cold hands

I have always thought the rubber stops at either end a handy adaptation.

No offense taken...I always called these things bobbers myself. They worked well for suspended Pymatuning slab crappie last spring and were quite easy to put on and off. It's a fly fishing item that can adjust to the spinning tackle guy for panfish.

no o ffense jim but it seems to be a typical overly complicated and overpriced fly fishing devisethey call them indicators, they also call oily pieces of yarn indictorsall other anglers salt or fresh call them bobbers or floats.i can "deploy" using a fly fishing mag term ,a simple.simple foam ice fishing float secured with a toothpick in the same manner.i have similar floats to the ones pictured that have a slit and are secured with a toothpick and can be taken off with out rerigging.sorry for the rant but the people that invent these devices refuse to call them a "float".we are the "gear guys" they look down on.just my opinion

Jason...you loop your line through the wire loop you see at the top of the bobber, thread the rubber stop on up your line 20 inches or so, thread the bobber itself on up your line to the rubber stop, then finally run the other rubber stop up your line and snug against the bottom of the bobber.

The foam bobber has your line running through the center and it is positioned by the rubber 'stops' both fore and aft of the bobber to hold it in place. To position your jig/bait just run the float up, or down, and secure with the stops on either end of the bobber, tight to it.

It works well, is a quick way to change bobber depths, doesn't pinch the line. Only drawback is that it will not cast very far...35 ft is my best effort. Sensitive, though.

How exactly do these attach to your line?

I'm a fan of the rubber bobber stops.
