Bill,I to have been using the "lures" for many years on the gills and crappies....I caught more crappies this weekend then gills on my "go to" gill lake...most on the swedeish pimple although I did land a few of both species on black 1/32nd oz. mister twisters(plain)...and another rod setup with just a plain hook and split shot....I have 3 different rods with 3 different "set ups" plus my flyrod while gill fishing out of my canoe....got fish on all 4 rods this weekend........lol!

Thanks Dick !...I welcome the "cooler" weather....Guess being from Minnesota helps....in a few months there''ll be 40 " of ice...lol!....not ice fishing though...sold all my ice fishing gear a few years ago...not into drilling through 40+ inches of ice anymore!...arghhhh!...I'll fish gills out of my canoe next spring thankyou!....lol!

Hey guys... on a mild winter in the Mid-Atlantic, I 'll be fishing for gills and crappies all winter long in ponds, spillways and tidal creeks. Some of our best fish in recent , mild winters have been fish caught in Dec, Jan and Feb. I've caught fish over 11 inches in water as cold as 38 F on tiny jigs tipped with waxworms over wood structure. Hang in there!

Thanks Jim!...It's been a good summer!...She's "winding down" as we woke up here to frost this morning....Fall is here!...even the maples are starting to show their reds and yellows up in this country....they say 32 degrees tomorrow morning also......gills are still hitting though!...will "squeek "a few more weekends on the lakes yet!...lol!
