Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Here is a Mitchell 310 UL on the left and a 308 on the right. They are almost the same size except for the spool diameter. The body is the same size and same parts inside.

Jim;

Am pretty positive that the 310 UL's came sometime after the 308's, which had two spools with them-one large and one small. The 310 UL's spool is smaller in diameter than the 308/309/408/409 and as far as I know there is only one size of spool.

Think the very first 310 UL models were made on the 308 frame - same spool diameter-just 310 UL lettering because I have one of them and my 308/408 spools fit it. I did not take a picture of this reel because I consider it basically a 308 where one could use the two different size spools on it.

they are way back in a closet,will have to check the numbers they are the old garcia mitchells.they are just keepsakes now and will never be used by me to fish.tooty can tell you i have been running across a lot of vintage gear lately and  will look for 310s in my travels

HEY KELLY , THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING ALL THESE PICS FOR US ALL TO VIEW !!!!!! Unless someone has done this type of lay out before , they have no idea how much work is involved in these shots .

  THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE TIME AND EFFORT TO PUT THIS STUFF ALL TOGETHER.....

Got the 308 I fished with in the 60's/70's in the basement.. There's the 305 I had before that down there, too (I'm a lefty).

Apologies to the group - I didn't realize that these are old posts. I also need to correct that reference up above -- that's a Mitchell 309, not a 308. Memory becomes a little faulty over 30 or 40 years! The Zebco 33 is the reel -before- the 305 came along, and the Zebco 22's are my father's. I also have a tattered collection of rods we used back then, though they were plenty tattered even then. Purty neat to see how many of us hold onto those old treasures from our kid-hoods, eh?
