Young redear is what it looks like to me

Mike- just looked at a bunch of pics of orangespotted sunfish and it looks like a real close match.
Another one of the great reasons I like bluegill fishing- the variety of fish that you can pull off the same stump.

Crappie and BG also aren't likely to hybridize for a reason other than physiology....they spawn at very different times of the year.

That fish appears to have quite the pedigree.......

kinda matches this pic of an orange spotted

Looks more like a redear than anything, though it could also be an orangespotted sunfish.

Mark- maybe but after looking at a lot of flier pics, it just doesn't match. All the fliers seemed to have the typical green/yellow/brown color of the gill with brown spots. This fish definitely has the silver skin and spots of a crappie.

can't be certain from the photo but I wanna go with flier.

Yes, It was very strange. It has the eyes and spots of a crappie but the color and shape of a gill. I hope some others have an opinion also.

Anyone ever seen one like this? It really looks like a crappie/bluegill hybrid.
