Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Hello to all! I have returned and I'm going to become way more active on here! It is really hard to keep up on things like this(which I LOVE THIS SITE!) while I'm in college. In case any of you are wondering what I'm working for a degree in, it is Prototype Engineering. Translation...BSA in Industrial Model Making! With this degree I'm hoping to work in the lure manufacturing industry, I want to be a part of a research and development team. So if any of you have any connections with any lure companies let me know! I"m hunting for intership opportunities!
On another note, most of the lakes up here in northern Minnesota are open! I'm really pumped! The ice just went off my fave bull-gill lake yesterday and I'm heading that way tonight! Good luck to all of you that are fishing! Talk to all of you soon!

Sounds like a very interesting field....What is your favorite bull gill lake?
I have a few...most are "hike in" only type. The one I'm referring to is Balm Lake north of Bemidji, Mn! Northern Mn has a lot of good gill action it's just takes some unconventional methods and thinking to get the really big boys! I do alot of research using the Mn DNR webiste. I look at creel census's to get my plan of attack started.
I would hit them with a spoon....but that's how I roll....be sure and post some pictures of your success.
Due to influences here and In-Fsih magazine, caught my first bluegills with a spoon friday. Wife used bait/bobber rig. Noticed all mine were a step larger. I'm hooked ! Used 1/8 oz. 'Lil Cleo, silver with blue stripe, tipped with power wiggler. steve b
Thanks for the tip guys! I have never tried a small spoon. I think I have some small Swedish Pimples and a Kastmaster or two, I'll give it a shot!
Welcome home "Bull". Good luck with your endevors in school.
Thanks! It is alot of fun and it is something I've wanted to do for a very long time!
Be sure to keep your priorities straight. The reward for the hard work of study is the joy of stolen moments fishing!
