Vince I only caught one Bhead through the ice but I know Bullheads hit well in cold water .Around 2009 I made it my mission to catch Bheads after dark because I wanted to see how long the "season" would last .I proved what you said here to myself I was catching from August ,when I started the experiment ,all the way through to early December .Believe me it was cold 11pm at night in December but I was catching them ,so I believe you Chris and Tony !

My Dad fishes pretty much every weekend, and his best catfishing seemed to be done in the colder months.

 Great cold water catfish, John!!

Around here most people give up fishing for cats at the first sign of cold weather. They think catfish won't bite in cold water. In fact, I have had more than a few people tell me they burro in the mud till the water warms again in the Spring. My fishing buddies and I know different. Years ago, I caught bullheads through the ice, and some of the best bullhead fishing was right after ice out in the Spring. I have used cut shad in the winter ,and caught blues and channels.

Good fish John... Channels are so much more of an active, cooler water fish than what many people realize....
