You got it Vince... maggots/spikes/eurolarve...all the same critter. And yes, they are available in different colors at some locations. I have used the red ones, and they did well for me, but the place I ordered mine from this year only had them as Au' naturale'.

I keep mine in the fridge at around 36-38 degrees. You do need to take them out and replace their bedding every couple of weeks or so, as they release ammonia. I've had them live for 4 months, maybe a little longer.

I will try them for sure Tony. They looked really lively on your hook, unlike wax worms. How long will they keep, and how do you best keep them alive before you use them? Are these the same a Euro Larva? If I remember correctly they come in different colors.

Waxies produce fish Vince, but if I were you I would try some maggots, (spikes) also.... I consider them the best BG bait I have ever used.

That brings back some great ice fishing memories, Tony. I still have, and use on occasion some of my old ice jigs. All of them are close to 30 yrs. old and still produce well. I have some of the old rocker jigs, and some tear drops. A friend of mine who is originally from North Dakota gave me some rat finkies. I usually tip mine with red wigglers now, but this winter I intend to send off for some wax worms.
