Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Telescopic on the pink dart jig tipped........

This guy went around the boat several times before I could negotiate his surrender.....Only problem fishing with the smaller jigs...this fish was throat hooked and bleeding pretty good after the long fight.......The dart jig is a 1/64 to 1/100 ounce...

Thanks for the compliment David.....most of what I employ is from other anglers but every once in a while you have to try some things to see what happens...never know when it comes to catching fish....sometimes a little suttle thing makes all the difference in the world....

Good point. you are a great resource, Jeff.

You're right David...not slip floats....I got them because of the rigid design which will help me using heavier line.....I go all the way up to 16 to 20 pound test on my telescopics......

looks like a basketball fish

Pretty nice looking egg floats. They look like they are through-holed, so are not slip floats. Is that right?

Here's a photo David of the new strike indicators I got to use with the dart jigs......I needed to find some more durable because I normally fish with 10 pound test mono.........

Thanks Troy....trust me when I tell you I don't take it for granted......I chose this location to settle down and build my home because of the Bluegill fishing available.........The best thing about it, other than the abundance of Coppernose, is the number of locations I can go that produce fish.....

You're blessed to have so many BIG bluegill around you. I'm normally forced to chase crackers because lots of the bluegill around here aren't worth filleting.

Look on the bright side - you turn back so many fish, that things are still in your favor.

SO, tell us about these "indicators." Whats up with those?

Yeah...warm weather, aggressive fish do inhale the tiny jigs. I don't like killin' 'em either.

I remember keeping a couple of 10 plus gills one time due to swallowed hooks. My then 22 year old son, Matthew, really let me have it on keeping 10's when there were so many 8 to 9's to go around.  I hope I taught him right!
