Don't expect anyone to cough up their honey hole. So lets stick to public waters. Where in N.E. Ohio do you find bigger 'Gills ? Of course I'll go first. My favorite is East Branch Res.. Spent my high school graduation day there, when my friends showed up later I already had a stringer of 'gills hanging from my canoe. this is electric only water. steve b
In the "mud lake" area of Akron's Portage Lakes, resides some very large redears ,if you can locate them. I used to fish this area quite a bit, driving over from Pittsburgh, with an old buddy (now deceased) who lived near the lake. Lots of gills and crappie there ,also! But we used to watch one old timer who traveled out with a small jon boat and long cane poles, who was a redear specialist, and often had huge catches!
Yeah, the Akron Watershead lakes long known for panfish. But size ? Actually, East Branch, that I mentioned is the last link in that chain of lakes. Bass Lake was once known for big crappie and 'gills, but a draw down due to development and some kinda squabble ruined it. Aquilla ? Also Aquailla once known for good 'gills has been run down the last couple decades. Needs to be drained/dredged/restocked. steve b
