Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Fly fishing only or conventional fishing only

Lately I have been thinking bout what should I conserve more time for fly fishing only or conventional fishing. I have been thinking about being only a fly fisherman because thats what im loving more and more everyday. but forwards as conventional fishing thats what I have known every since I first started fishing so thats alot of fishing. but I think I might go towards fly fishing only because you just dont see a warmwater fly fishing everyday you know.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? please let me know to make my decision more easier. I just want youre opinion. thanks

Tobias, You dont have to limit yourself to spincasting or flyfishing ,you can do both and be good at both, I fish with both flyrod and ultralights and both complement each other. When I'm bluegill fishing I use my flyrod with live crickets until I run out of crickets on the water, then I switch to artifical flys , When I smallmouth fish I start off with artificials on my flyrod but sometimes conditions call for the use of ultralight spinning rods and being able to have a choice in fishing technique is a real plus, so dont limit yourself , be the best fisherman you can be, golfers dont just use one club

I think that versatility is the key to fishing. When I'm chasing gills, I take my flyrod and conventional ultralite gear to cover myself. If I'm not getting bit using spinning gear and either live bait or artificials, I'll switch to the flyrod and either a topwater popper or a slow sinking black ant pattern or what ever pattern you like. Just stay prepared and versatile. I think you'll catch more fish. Nick.

You can have it both ways Tobias, just do the the one that you enjoy right now, right now. Next year, you might want to focus on another method, even another species. Why, one day, you may be all the way up to cricket fisherman. Lord Of The Fly Rods is, and he does it on a fly rod.

You're on the right track Tobias. Alot more skill is needed for flyfishing.
