Do you love big bluegill?
Looking for Bluegills in Northern Calif.
I have been a passionate fisherman my entire life. I enjoy fishing for bass,steelhead,stripers,crappie as well as a variety of saltwaqter fish. However, I have a love for the beautiful bluegill. I would love to find someone in Northern Calif. who would like to flyfish for bluegill.

Hello Jeff: Sorry for the delay in responding to your comment. My wife and I were vacationing in Australia. Unfortunately we were not able to "wet a line". You have got me excited about lake Barrett. It would be appreciated if you could tell me when the spawn occurs and if boats are available to rent. if not is there a launch ramp, I could take my bass boat down. Additionally, what flies would you suggest? Thank you for any information you would be willing to supply. Marchelle

I too am in Calif., but way in the south (Riverside). If you EVER get the chance, you have to go and fly fish Lake Barrett east of San Diego! If you love Bluegills and fly fishing, you have to go here! Real giants and lots of them! Catch and release only!
