Thanks for the welcome. I fish in North Texas. I am interested in finding a list of North Texas lakes that have Copper nose bluegills. I belong to the NT fly fishers club. I have caught several Copper Nose Bluegills at a club outing. I want to catch a lot more as they are a lot of fun catching.
Mr Tabbert, thank you for the kind welcome. i mostly fish for bass I pour my own worms and do good with them I sell them to local shops and anglers they do catch bass you may check me out on facebook and or my web site under Bass in the Hood (www.bassinthehood.com). I do enjoy fishing for bluegill, red ear etc. i mostly fish with wax worms and crickets when fishing for gills. I recently caught a bluegill that was just short of 11 inches on a cricket. I would like to start pouring soft plastic baits for bluegill and try my luck with those. I mostly fish from my kayak, float tube or from shore. I hope to post some photos soon. Thanks again for the welcom.
Thanks Dick. Sold my bass boat a couple of weeks ago and I'm looking forward to slowing it down a bit. We love to 'gill fish the small lakes here. I am looking forward to learning and trying out some of the tips the other members share.
Thanks Dick! Last year I returned to Bluegill fishing. I fish the N Wisconsin area. I grew up fishing gills (scaling-no filet) mom had lots of bread in case of "Peakers". Now I just fish with bobber and crawlers out of my solo canoe. I look for not developed boat landings where I can launch and look for small lakes. I just turned 60 but like to paddle. I have read up on bluegill research and thanks to Sam Cooks article I am hoping to learn more about my favorite fish. Most of my friends fish musky and I always ask them if they are eating any!!!
Thanks for great site. I know that it is taboo to ask about favorite fishing spots I would appreciate any lakes I could try around Duluth.
DICK could ya please show a pic of the Tabbert Ant? I"ve been experimenting my self and will post a pic of mine. I looked through all your pics and couldn't find a pic of the ant..

Hello Dick, Well I am not sure what anyone would get from me I have not Bluegill fished since I was a kid with a cane pole. That was in Ohio and I am just now getting back into it and live in Alabama. I have a 16 year old step son that I am starting to fish with and I joined this site for some help. I always used worm and crickets I know there are other ways but just need to learn them and what we need to catch these fish. We are going tomorrow when he gets outta school. Any suggestions that might help me? Thank You In Advance, Larry
Thanks for the nice welcome Dick. I am new to any kind of internet group so it is nice to be included so soon. The site is great and I have just scratched the surface. I may not have much to add to the site as I haven't fished for Bluegills much since I was a kid but I really want to get back into it and learn from some of you who know how to catch em. Alaska does not have any Bluegills so I will have to travel far to get them but I am willing to do that to enjoy them as I did when I was younger. I will be reading and checking out the site frequently to learn what I can. Thanks again.
I want to thank you for the kind words of welcome and encouragement. I am brand new to brim and bluegill fishing, but since I started I really enjoy it. As a matter of fact I just caught my first crappie in 2011 and I've been hooked ever since. I still like to catfish and I target the big ones when I do. I relocated to South Carolina recently after retiring and never dreamed that I would be around so much water. Looking forward to learning as much as I can...this is a wonderful fourm.
Thanks for the welcom Dick! I love catching Bluegill. I was so excited when i found this site. I learn something everytime i'm on it and you are right the pictures are awesome.
well thank you very much for the kind invite. I am a retired US Marine, I live in a pretty rural area of NC and am quite close to the coastline.
Love to catch bluegill, sunfish etc, but biggest question is where? My wife and i traveled and cruised aboard our 33 foot sailboat "PELAGO" for close to ten years, spent huge amount of time in Caribbean, we lived on the boat all the time, and really enjoyed it, decided that things were changing, (diesel then in Vz was 18 cents a gallon delivered to Marina) now in the bahamas it is close to 8 bucks a gallon. And then 911, and these countries seemed to get hostile, my first visit to Grenada was during the invasion, even they are getting rather rough to Americans. The various fees and coruption seemed to grow and grow. The there was age and stamina.
We sold out beloved Pelago and she is still cruising, another circuit down south and now in a yard in Milwaukee getting a total refit, a wounded Iraq war vet bought her and he is using her to get his own private hell back where it belongs, (I can relate to that)
bought a 18ft Century center console with 150hp Yamaha, and we had that for vour years now it is a 14' alumacraft for fishing small lakes and rivers.
thought that here would be a place to find "spots to fish"
Think my next target is Lake Waucamau NW of Wilmington NC Wildlife claims blue gill fishing there is quite good
also am a ham radio operator and i shoot high power rifle in competition all across the country
