Kevin that looks like a really nice sonar you have there... side imaging is the way to go. that is a reason why im upgrading next year to structure scan on the Lowrance units... here is a nice video on spotting schools of fish with your side imaging. the nice thing about side imaging is that you have a tremendous advantage over regular sonar is that you know what side of the boat the fish are and at what distance .... great tool.

hey Kevin ... i am a fanatic when it comes to sonar and Down scanned imaging. i was doing a lot of vertical jigging... i consider my self a newbie basically because i feel like im still gaining knowledge every time i go out. i learned alot last year vertical jigging for panfish... while the boat was slowly drifting my active schools looke dmuch like the pics on this page.
