Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I would like to congratulate and thank Jim Gronaw for sharing his recent Carp fishing exploits with the members of Bigbluegill.com. It's a bluegill site and that's what really makes us go but it has been nice during the Winter doldrums to hear and see about some of the other options available right under our noses....Jim would tell us he's no expert but he has obviously hit on some things that have proven results and great fish.....I added a picture of a Carp honor badge and hope Jim will continue to satisfy one of the four basic wants of life....a little variety!.....I know there is plenty of big gills and hybrids on the way and I'm pumped up about that.....Thanks again Jim and join me in thanking Jim if you agree......A few short months ago I considered Carp a trash fish now I'm reading up and realize how many anglers enjoy catching a Giant Carp...It's now on my bucket list.

Thanks again. But the great thing about bluegills is that they are the 'universal fish' that just about all of us grew up on. It's just that some of us 'kids' never grew up. I caught my first bluegill at age 5, and I haven't been the same since!

I can't wait to see Elena squeal with joy when she catches her first bluegill! And I think it's gonna' happen sometime in 2012. Cool!

Jim, I'm so happy you're on this site.  You're so full of positivity, and you're such an accomplished angler.  I just almost can't believe our good fortune at some of the highest quality folks who frequent this place!!!  Carp, bluegill, channel catfish, bullheads....you know the connections, right?  Sometimes we get looked down upon just a bit by die-hard trout, LMB and walleye fisherman.  But we just sneak around and find friendship, fellowship and excitement in the realm of bluegill fishing.  WE ROCK!

Oh...the shame, and the joy, of it all! Thanks guys. Truth is, there is no fish out there that I 'do not' like to catch. I think all things are worthy, and all fish as well. The big goldfish are just so abundant, and so big, that it is a good target for any freshwater angler who wants to consistantly catch big fish. Go and Google 'carp fishing holidays' on the net and you will be astonished as to what lengths the European carpers go to get 'specimen' fish. And another fact is that they can be extremely difficult to catch at times.

And half the cool thing is...I get to learn another angling technique that I can apply to another one of my favorite fish...the channel catfish.

But do not worry...bluegills are my first, and true, love in the fishing realms!

LOL!  I agree, Jim Gronaw is a great carp fisherman.  Of course he's also a great "FISHERMAN", period.

The funny thing about this, is that BBG has such a strong presence on the internet, that if I feature this blog, when you Google "Jim Gronaw", it will come up "Jim Gronaw, Carp Fisherman!"..  :-)  Love it.

It is on mine too, I think it would be a great fight on somewhat light tackle
