Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This weekend and last I have been fishing Lake Latonka which is a private lake not far from my house. We have been catching allot of fish but not many slabs. Finally yesterday I left my comfort zone and went to the deeps. Didn't catch as many but what we caught were good ones. Just a little confused, I still can't find the monsters. Any Ideas where to look? I am out of ideas. During the spring we just knock the monsters to death. I know they are there I just cant find them.

Monster bluegills....probably not in the lake! Not all lakes have big bluegills! If you know monster 'gills there then fish deeper water with a leech or a whole giant redworm in the summer! Spring....find spawn beds then fish little farther out and deeper! When I see nice bluegills spawn in between 3 to 5 feet deep then bigger bluegills should be out in the between 8 and 12 feet deep. Clear water mean deeper!
4 lbs test line is good for geneal while 6 lbs for around cover and 8 lbs for insdie the covers like fallen trees!
Hope it help!
