Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I thought I would share with you guys an image of my 10 ft. Pelican pontoon style boat, which is perfect to fish small waters. I posted a few images of my 8 ft. Pelican boat here on Big Bluegill some years ago, which I sold in 2014. At that time I decided to purchase a bigger boat in the same style which is the 10 ft. version of the Pelican. It will handle two fishermen with ease and still enable one to fish tight areas on small lakes. I use a stabilizer on the back of the boat that keeps the boat parallel to the bank. My 10 ft. boat is much more stable allowing me to stand without fear of falling out of the boat.

I'm looking forward to sharing many of my bluegills outings with you guys this season and I hope to read about many of your trips as well. Have a great bluegill season!!!

Take a look at the Buster Boat company located in Oklahoma.  They make a great upscale boat like this, and it has features most don't.  Trolling motor hookups, two live wells; one aerated, a far superior seat securing system that has bolted in seats rather than friction mounted seats that can put you in the drink.  It also sells the tiller at the back of the boat that stabilizes the boat from drifting.

love your puddle jumper i hope you include the boat with all the big gill pic's you catch !  i have a small lake close to home that this boat would work perfect chasing gills and crappies with the flyrod !

Those stabilizers are an absolute must.  I even have one of my 15 ft. aluminum boat that I fish alone in a lot.  Just eliminated rear end drift except in heavy wind.

Keith

This stabilizer will keep the boat perfectly straight while fishing parallel to any bank, even when the wind is blowing hard!!

I made one several years ago for a row boat I had and it worked very well Jim. It's like the difference in trolling my big boat with the outboard cocked up or in the down position.

Got the stabilizer from Alabama Trolling motor in Birmingham---it is a trolling motor shaft without the motor on it. They will sell the shafts to you for 20.00 bucks I placed the sheet metal fin in the shaft myself. Any trolling motor shop should have discarded shafts.

20160214- looks like a great little model you picked out there.

Personally i do better fishing out of the smaller craft than the bass boats, pontoons etc...stealth is huge especially in the skinny waters.

My nephew has a two seater and we take that puddle jumper out once in awhile. its comfortable... live wells front trolling motor, full lighting etc.
