CAUGHT 30-35 EVERY DAY, BUT DON'T GO BEFORE 3:00!

Yep ,that's what was told to my fishing partner by a fly fishing buddy of his. So off we go, figuring there's a lie in here somewhere. We decide to go at 1:00 and lo and behold who's flyfishing with his buddy, the 35 gills a day friend! We fished for 3 hours using every fly and technique we could think of. Ended up with five gills, 1-nine, thirty short of our goal. The guy who told us, and his partner, caught 1. We ran into him at the boat ramp and layed it to him. As it turned out, it was…

big change in temp.

What is the best way to catch gills when the temperature changes fro the 30s to the 60s. I would think downsizing to a ice jig on fly rod might take a few. Any ideas?I've never had a situation like this in many years.

Let's Get Reel With Photos

I would really rather see a photo of the true size of the fish than a photo that's manipulated to look larger. Put a ruler, pack of smokes etc..to make it real.I'm sure very few members do this but at first I believed everything I saw and invited friends to look at some of the giants.I was beaten soundly for my efforts. Call me gullible!

Winded out

Had boat ready for lake and fly fishing for the big ones. Twenty MPH winds and rain. May still go around 11:00.

Everybody have a great weekend!

Best bobbers

I'm sure you all know that the type of bobber or color of fly will greatly influence the number of fish you catch. I have outfished my buddy many times and occasionally he does the same to me. I first noticed this when the "Wing It" bobbers appeared on the market. I couldn't buy a gill. He was killing them with the "Wing It". The drag resistance on the "Wing It", is so much lower than most. It does seem to have some trouble in the wind. Sometimes If there is a nick on the line, it will not…

There is a fish god

Went fishing yesterday for the first time in 10 days.Weather had dropped down to the 60's at night and high of 82. Perfect for the gills to move into the shallows. Little worried about the moon phase but it was 3% less than full. Gorgeous day! Started out with my flyrod for 45 minutes and caught a 3in. I was starting to get discouraged but I always have a backup plan;Worms! Ended up using the whole box. My goal for the trip was to catch 10 to fifteen for the skillet and to catch and release…

wrong Fish But Fun

went out for some gills friday and decided to take some minnows just in case. Caught 2 small gills and 40 crappie. . Everywhere you looked, crappie were chasing minnows. Used chartruse jig tipped with minnow, They liked it better with no sinker. Out of the forty, thirty eight were females with eggs.Where were the males? Dreaming of spawing is all I can think of.Looking for comments
