Hi James, I'm Nick from Columbus. Thought I'd drop you a note to get acquainted, seeing as how we're only around 2 hours from each other. Nice to know there are members so close by. Saw from your profile that you have caught some big gills. I've never had the pleasure of taking one over 2 lbs. Must have been a great fight on light tackle. What ere you using for bait? How many times do you get to the Ocmulgee to fish? My son and his family also live in Macon, and I get the chance at times to fish with him and my 2 young grandsons. My son's wife has an uncle who lives in Perry and has about a 8 acre private lake. He has bream, crappie and bass in it and will allow "family" to take bream and crappie out but only 1 bass if it's a wall hanger. Was wondering if you know of any safe public water we could take the 2 boys to. They are 6 and 5 years and we want to keep them in the fish to keep their interest up. Uncle's lake is not always an option. I have lived in Columbus for 30 years and have fished up and down the Chattahoochie. I don't own a boat, but have managed to find plenty of bream and crappie to keep me busy. I taught my own 2 kids how to fish and learn something about Mother Nature and conservation along the way. Most of the city lakes around here are getting pretty well silted in any more, so I have to go elsewhere for decent size fish. Always looking even at 61 years old. Well James, I'll stop running my mouth now. Hope your fishing stays successful. Nick Holt.
