Greetings from another Az gill fisher, if you ever get down south try Parker Canyon lake south of Sierra Vista, and Sonoita. I regularly catch in excess of 30 gills here, most are in the 6 inch range but many are 8 to 9 inch with the ocassional ten incher.
I like using a clear casting bubble with a 12 to 16 inch leader with crawlers and wet flies usually a wooly worm or booger. the casting bubble filled with water gives you a long cast and a slow sink rate.
Hi, I am kind of new to this site too, I couldn't reply to your discussion topic for what ever reason. I Live in Tempe and I like to got to Saguaro. There are some big one there. The lake I have been hitting lately is Tempe Town Lake as it's closer and I can easily do it after work. Fishing near the bridge is the only way to go there. I don't seems to have much lucky with lures there for whatever reason as I do at Saguaro. If you are only targetting bluegills, use mealworms, If you used earthworm, you open it up to redear, yellow bass, channel cat and rainbow. Yes there are still trout in TTL, caught 3 last Saturday.
Hey Mr. AZ! haha Welcome to the site. Soon you will fine this has got to be the absolute best site for bigbluegills. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
