Do you love big bluegill?
...the catching fly today was one I found @Onthevise.com. Its called, "Keep It Stupid, Simple," an obviously bad play on words.... Hehehe.
Its nothing more than thread, tinsel and hackle, on a hook. Reminiscent of a Tenkara fly, really, or some of the many spider designs from the UK. I dubbed a BB sized thorax from orange roving simply because I can.
Ok sorry to say the bluegill ignored it, however, probably because the water is terribly mushy with algae right now. But, the always ravenous hand bass seemed to appreciate it. The usual fast strip worked on this little guy, who took just as I was preparing to start a back cast. Typically energetic, this one was a Three-leaper!
Also cast today was a new damsel imitation, The Euro Nymph. I don't recall where I found the pattern, but it was a skunkaroo. Last weekend I could hardly keep them off a damsel fly.... Today, nuttin'. So it goes.
You can find both patterns with a bit of googling, or PM and I'll share them.
