Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Caught this Tilapia on the UF campus. Only way I could get one to bite was irritating them with a fly while they were on bed.

I love those fish!  The big ones we have caught from the Salton Sea would hit small lures and baits very well.  Get a 2 to 3 pounder on an ultralight rod and man!.. those fish could really fight!

Tilapia is the fish said to be in the Gospel, the story of the loaves and fishes. They are also known as St. Peter's Fish.

Edible? Oh yeah! From a runoff pond - the choice is yours. They are adaptable to a wide range of water quality.

Im thinking about putting some in a large stock tank and using them as catfish bait. I think they are beautiful.

I didn't keep it since it was in a pond that is fed by runoff from the campus.  They serve them in restaurants all the time.

I've heard of people getting tilapia to bite on broccoli.  Otherwise, it's snag them, or use a cast net, which might not be legal in your area.

HEY JIM,

You have a promising career ahead of you for thinning fish herds!!! Are those good to eat?

 Got a limit down there?
