Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This was the first hybrid we have ever taken from this premier bluegill and pumpkinseed fishery...fish went 9.75 inches.

I think true identification would be tough on just about any of the more common hybrid sunfishes. If you google hybrid sunfish images you will get a ton of photos of fish that aren't quite what they say they are. I still have a hard time IDing gill crackers in some waters and some green sunfish/bluegill hybs lean strong one way or the other to one of the parents, making them a tough call, also.

great fish jim...trophy!.. too bad they dont offer citations for this fish in you area... you should get in-fisherman to offer this species on their list as well

Thanks Adam...we have another, actually public pond. that has quite an abundance of these p-gills. I did not think they had emerged from their winter slumber. They should be spawning by late May.
