Do you love big bluegill?
Fire Tiger and Rainbow Trout Spoons and a Pink Cloud colored Mini-Mite...All were tipped with Live Grass Shrimp for best results.....

It's a good question John, I'm still experimenting with tuning these baits......I'm far from a spoon guru! LOL
I see Jeffrey ,I can't argue with your success rate when tightlining!
Smart guys....
As David suggested John...the eye ends up on the single wire section of the split ring. For casting spoons I would not like this set up but I've had good results with the relatively few fish I've caught with the spoon hanging either tight lined vertically or under a float......Just the other day I caught more than a dozen channel cat and missed only one and had similar results on bigger bluegill....the octopus is a very nice circle hook to tip with live bait. I do understand the hook set concerns and would not like this arrangement for casting.
hmmmm, good point on the leverage thing.....
Don't want the fish throwing the hook due to leverage with too small an eye.
I'm thinking Firetiger patterns exxagerate a Yellow Perch look.
Hey John, Ive run into this while tinkering with other home made lure ideas... The small eyes on these and other hooks will fit on the single wire section of the split ring, but wont slip onto the doubled sections. It causes some problems when using trailers, in fact, because the reduced movement may cause the trailer to hang up.
Jeffrey ,how'd you get those octopus hooks to fit on the rings ? Didn't think the eyes were big enough for that!
I have had good luck with firetiger rooster tails too.
It is probably the single "non-realistic" pattern that produces best.
