They do work good if you can find them Steve......I really like the enhancement of fishing the smallest ones shown live........I notice a big difference in the bluegill takes over merely a piece of meat tipped on......big swamp shellcrackers in this region will seek out the crawfish and grass shrimp hatch........

Thank ya Jeffrey. We used to seine out helgramites and crawdads to fish for smb and channel cats in New River, but hadn't thought of using them for BG. We peeled the shell off of the tail, they were as good as softshells.

You see a mix here of the smallest that I would tip whole and a few medium crawfish that I would break down into smaller pieces to tip with..............everything will hit them so you have to be ready......these are a favorite forage of many predator fish.......

I scooped them in a roadside ditch on the way to the fishing hole Jim.....just find the Great Blue Herons in March around coastal Carolina and you'll find the crawfish hatch....I prefer the smaller ones for panfish but that's what the bass and channel cats hit today too.......

Did you seine those up, too, Jeffrey?
