Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This is How I Attach My Line To My Telescopic Poles

I pass the line through the eye and wrap (not tie) the eye and leave about a foot......I walk down the pole every two to three inches with a clinch knot and I ususally end up with three knots around the pole. I then come back and wrap the pole with electrical tape above each knot which serves to keep the line from wrapping. My recommendation on line length is to match the pole or go a little over to accomodate bait changes without shortening the line too much as you lose a little each time......

Keep in mind I never go below 10 pound test and usually go 12 to 16 on my telescopics........that's what I like where I fish......the pole is the drag when using this technique......

A little closer look........

Depending on the circumstances Mike......I don't use the pole as often when gills go shallow so I can keep my distance by casting.....Pole fishing puts you right on top of the fish but precision placement is often a must so I easily take over a thousand crappie a year and several thousand gills a year using telescopics......it's some of the most fun you can have fishing in my opinion............

i was wondering if you found using this type of rod any more effective than a rod and reel combo? I've owned one myself for years but have never really experimented with it. As of now it hangs on my wall as decoration
