Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

These are between 1.8-2lbs, Barkley Lake's the bomb!

We caught numerous crackers weighing 1.8lbs all week long with the biggest coming in right at two pounds.

Barkley apparently has the exact ingredients that are taylor made for producing trophy size shellcrackers. It's a massive body of water and they have so many places to hide and grow to these crazy sizes. From what I gather, most fisherman down there only target them during April, May and first part of June, so they don't get much pressure the remainder of the year. That allows them to pull out to deeper water and grow to tremendous sizes. All of these fish pictured are at least 12-13inches. I weighed several 11.5inch crackers and they were usually 1.5-1.7lbs which I thought was pretty dang healthy for a fish that length. The 12inch crackers were usually between 1.8-1.12lbs and the 13inchers were right at 2lbs.
