we don't have a limit on them here and I haven't caught one in years , might have to hit the river as soon as the ice leaves to see if I can nail some

Thanks Bob for the clairifcation. I was at work and couldn't respond.

Yes, freshwater cod it is! Some other name are: Eelpout, burbot, lawyer, ling cod. They are excellent table fare! We usually take the backstraps and tail meat, cube it up, boil it in a crab boil or 7-Up and dip in butter!

Right now is pre-spawn and these fish are moving from the deepest parts of the lake 40 - 100+, onto mid-lake humps and sharp breaks adjacent to shallow water.

They are a fast action fish! No nibbling, looking at the bait in wonderment, they just straight-up freight train the lure!!

Thanks Bob.....Bullworm has posted some nice ones before I just couldn't remember if they made good table fare.....I've walked a many of cold mile in Scotland for those Fish n' Chips! Great eats for sure.......

That's a cool looking pattern on that fish, definetly has a similiar shape to that of a catfish....nice catch!

Quite a fish.......is this an edible fish or CPR? Seems similar to a catfish maybe.......
