JOHN;; MOST SAUGER I CATCH; ARE IN THE ONE TO TWO POUND CLASS;; BUT SEVERAL; 5 POUNDERS; ARE NOT UN COMMON;; ANYTHING BIGGER THAN THAT; I HAVENT HEARD OF IN MY AREA. WHEN THE WEATHER IS AT ITS WORST;; SNOWING;; RAINING; SLEETING; COLDER THAN HECK;; SEEMS TO BE THE BEST TIME TO FISH FOR THEM ;; IN VERY FAST WATER; USUALLY BELOW A DAM TAIL RACE
Yea, I looked it up and they haven't introduced them here .I am just East of the Saugers natural range I believe. How big do Saugers get Carl?
JOHN;; SAUGER;; IS A REAL CLOSE COUSIN;; OF WALLEYE;; IN FACT; THEY INTERBREED;; CALLED;; SAUGEYES;; SAUGER TASTE A LOT LIKE WALLEYES !! FISH BELOW DAMS; FOR THE BETTER FISHING FOR THEM;; BOTTOM BOUNCE JIGS; TIPPED WITH MINNOWS; AND STINGER HOOKS FOR THEM !
I have only eaten Walleye two or three times and I agree Carl.Fantastic tasting fish like Perch .I want to target these fish at a local lake I usually don't fish . I use to fish Bass in the local Monksville Reservoir but the state turned it into a big Musky ,Walleye impoundment .I need to take advantage of it's closeness but there will be a learning curve .
LOVE THE WALLEYES ! FANTASTIC EATING FISH! MY AREA WATER;; JUST DOESNT HOLD ABUNDANT NUMBERS OF THESE ;; MAKES IT VERY HARD TO LOCATE THEM
12-15" i think ,not really sure .Those are the sizes I caught though .
how big were the stocked fish?
They stocked Walleye in my home lake late 2015
Nice bonus fish anytime!
