I've ice fished three  community lakes that have weed control Tony

So the weeds are down, or were never there in the beginning? Just trying to get a handle on mid season indicators.

Same in the M-S region...little or no weeds. DCL guys are fishing humps and rock, but I heard some weeds are still hanging on in the upper reaches of the lake...producing a variety of fish.

Weeds are sparse/non existent  in the three lakes and areas I fished so far  .Wood and Rock areas are the structures I've been hitting .

Jim, any idea what shape the weeds are in right now where the guys are fishing?

How about you John? Are you fishing weedbeds or flats?

Anytime after the first week in Feb would be 'mid winter' ice for us here in the Mason Dixon. Our ice period can be as long as 8-9 weeks or as brief as a few days. We've got it now and the Deep Creek guys are pounding fish in relatively shallow 12-18 ft depths. That bite will go deeper soon as fish just seem to scatter and clam up.

hahaha  at least I am in good company with our man Leo!!  was going to aggreviate the wife one time;; told her what I was doing ;; mixing that junk up;; told her I needed to use her hand mixer and beater blades.  I wont say she yelled at me;; but on a ritcher scale;; it would have been around a 4 or 5 level!

Man Carl , you are a madman fisherman ! Drilling beat up minnows with coat hangers ,you and LEO are the most eccentric characters on here !

Yes Tony ,  midwinter ice has always been tough for me and usually I fish in the 12 '-25' range on the lakes I frequent, at that time and can catch a few  .I found what appeared to be fish in the early ice shallower zone yesterday,8-10' . They just wouldn't hit . Thanks for your informative reply. Appreciate your help!
