You can also add a stiff mono loop to the head that covers the hook tip. But thta is a lot of fiddly trouble to go through when you can more easily bend the hook a little....

Absolutely David....I also try to make them weedless when I tip them with an additional live bait so I can bang the grass lines and bump stumps tightly....I like the extra flake and flash in the blackwater rivers I'm fishing......

Those Sliders do come in a wide variety of colors, Jeff. I lke the little flip of the tail, too. Also, the jig is not difficult to duplicate if you cannot find them or just happen to be an inveterate DIY cheapskate, like me.

And you know, you can make any jig head weedless like that? Just bend the hook down about 25-30 degrees and thread on the soft plastic body, so the hook tip just barely protrudes from it. You can experiment with this angle to suit your needs, too. I read about this in one of my books, The Freshwater Angler's "Fishing Tips and Tricks."

I got my like-new used copy, off www.alibris.com for just a few bucks. I highly recommend it.
