Think if they were in a pond with bluegill, they would take over then?

I've had a couple in an aquarium. Pretty territorial little guys especially when breeding time comes around. They would defend their cave pretty fiercely even biting my hand when there were eggs present.

Anybody ever try raising them in their ponds?
Comment by Michael Cox on January 22, 2011 at 6:29pm
It is a Rio Grande Cichlid or Texas Cichlid. Texas Parks and Wildlife call it a Rio Grande Cichlid so thats what I go by. They are edible, taste and texture is a lot like a freshwater drum. Not as good as a bluegill or redear, thats for sure.

Is that an eatable fish, or boney?
