HE,HE, I wish I was retired, I'm still hard at work I have my own business  which gives me time to get out at least once a week, and once more on the week end.

I usually make a point to fish on wednesday come heck or high water. I just figure that whatever happens that day can wait till thursday

I hear you on cleaning fish. Probably my least favorite thing to do.

You are right about this this site it is my only real visit on the interweb, anymore. Who needs more?

Interesting what you say about making the time. I recently read a passage in a very old angling book, where the town carpenter was described. By all accounts he was a superb craftsman and much in demand. However, he was the devil to employ because he was always taking off to go fishing. When he was working he'd knock off early, and disappear down the lane with his pole and can of worms. Seems he knew when to quit.

Its very poignant that you say all that. Ill see if I can find it again and post it for you.

ONE LAST THING FOR TODAY DAVID" YOU HAVE TO MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF TO DO NOTHING BUT RELAX" TO me that's the most important thing a retired person can do. Sometimes I have to remind my self of that when things get to hectic, bug orders to go out, rods to work on , etc. Sometimes I just stop right in the middle of doing something or working on something , usually for someone else, and just say I'll finish it tomorrow . If tomorrow never comes they'll understand that it was time for a break.........

ONE MORE THING DAVID, This site is the best thing that's happened to me in yearsssssssssssss, and I truely mean that. The genius of Bruce's idea for putting together can't be stressed enough or him thanked enough. I doubt that he reads , or has time to , read all the comments on here , BUT JUST IN CASE HE DOES "THANKS BRUCE FOR THE MEMORIES"............

THANKS VERY MUCH DAVID and I appreciate your comments. I don't know about Federico , but he is definately an asset to this site and maybe it's just that he enjoys fishing so much it's just a large priority in his life and has the ability to fish a lot , and more power to him if that's the case.
  i guess it all comes down to just that PRIORITY'S . NOthing more that I can see. Another great fisherman that is on here is SIR JEFFREY ABNEY. I KNOW for a fact that he still works and hard at it for that matter ttttttttons of hours at times. He's retired Navy and has another full time job and also apparently has a third full time job, CATCHING BLUEGILLS , FLYERS, CRAPPIES and what ever else swims by his baits!!!!!! I just don't have the desire to do that any more , although I must say this year was exceptional for me with all the pond fishing I did due to my old partners not being able to go much due to health issues or scheduling conflicts and JUST LIFE IN GENERAL. 
  NEXT my number one goal is to fish with Jeffrey, meet Dick Tabbert, and Rick King. They will all be welcome folk to pic the brains of . Seems like my whole life has been a hunger for knowledge that I gleaned from others or self taught . Also trying to pass on some knowledge here to others who might be interested in the MUSINGS OF AN OLD MAN with way to much time on his hands . 
   THIS SITE has renewed my interest in making new bugs and building some more old rods . I was getting a little too relaxed with life and now am busy again.
    THERE DOES' COME A TIME FOR REFLECTION however and it only comes with age when you know what that time is . I'm at that point now and savor stories, knowledge , and just plain relaxing in the evening . 

     Sure I used to be the same as everyone else when it comes to numbers of fish caught in a day or the sizes of the catch, nnnnnnnnnnot so much anymore. I"d much rather catch quality fish over quantity now . I've also become lazy when it comes to cleaning fish. NOw I sit at my cleaning table instead of standing there for hours on end with an electric knife. I have some minor back issues that don't allow for that anymore . Don't get me wrong if the opportunity arrises with Sir Jeffrey next spring I'll clean lots of fish!!!!!! Later in the year though I just will release fish like I did last fall , for two reasons . #1 I didn't need anymore fish for the freezer, and #2 just couldn't see killing the fish cause or their beauty. That's just the way I feel now and have mostly given up on hunting pheasants for the same reason, the beauty of the animal. Guess I'm getting soft hearted ........

The reason I made my comments are simple. It seems Federico must BE retired, with all the time he spends fishing. And by all appearances, he is also well heeled, if not independently wealthy!

HEY DAVID,

  HAVING BEEN RETIRED MY SELF for almost 11 years now the thing that will amaze you is how much you have to do and how little time you have to do it in!!!!!!!!!!! I"ve told many folks when they ask me what I do all day , I don't know how I ever had time to work!!!!!!!!! It's really just that your prioritys change once your main function of the is no longer getting ready to go to work and make a living for the hungry mouths to feed.
   I have lots of advice for ya if you want to listen .  DDDDDDDDDDDDDON'T TAKE UP HOBBIES LIKE FLY TYING , MAKING FISHING RODS, RIDING MOTORCYCLES, CLEANING VEHICLES TO THE POINT OF OBSESSION , AND JUST IN GENERAL TRY TO ENJOY LIFE ! TRY to obtain balance in all your endeavors , but first and foremost is don't loose sight of the goal, HAVING FUN , ENJOYING YOUR GRANDKIDS IF YOU HAVE ANY, TRY AND DEVELOP NEW FRIENDSHIPS TO INHANCE OLD ONES YOU ALREADY HAVE. I guess I'm rambling again and shouldn't . You've already accomplished so much in your life , I'm sure, that you can put aside lots of things that are unimportant and concetrate on what is now important to you . 

   ONE BIG mistake I see lots of folks who retire is that they waited to long!!!!!! What I'm trying to get at is that if you wait till everything is just right , like finances and health insurance  and all the rest of that stuff, you may put it off till too late to enjoy your life and what's left of it. I TELL ALL MY BUDDYS' WHO AREN'T RETIRED YET , just do it as soon as you are comfortable to do it!!!!!!! None of us knows for sure how long we have to go and the future is uncertain at best. EVERY SINGLE DAY I WAKE UP IN THE MORING IS A GOOD DAY, NO MATTER HOW I FEEL , normal aches and pains aside, because I know the old man upstairs says TOOTY what you going to do with your self today and are you going to make a difference in someone's life in a positive way ? THAT IS MY PERSONAL GOAL IN LIFE , to make a small contribution to someone somewere and when I go to sleep at night I have a pretty clean conscious and can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring me.........
