Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I have caught this 10 1/4 Inch Male Bluegill three times in the last month in my 1/2 acre pond (he has an identifying scar on his upper lip). He really likes earthworms, and is very calm while being handled.

It's a normal northern Bluegill; Coppernoses wouldn't do well at all up here north of the Mason-Dixon line. The stock came from Jones Fish in Newtown, Ohio (close to Cincinnati). The 'gills in the 1/2 acre pond are all males selected from my 2/3 acre pond. Since there's no feeding competition from smaller Bluegill offspring, they have their pick of their favorite natural foods plus Aquamax 600 about 6 days a week. The smaller pond also has Redears, Yellow Perch, and Smallmouths in it.

Nice fish. I too seem to catch the same old big fish from my pond. I take pictures date them and record thier weight. Do you feed them? This guy looks like he's eating good.

That is a nice gill, and you have them in a 1/2 acre pond?

Hard to tell but is that a Native or Coppernose and where did you get your stock from?
