Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Marburg White Perch. Andre, check it out!

Matt and I got about 60 white perch at Lake Marburg, PA today on worms on the bottom and, that's right Bill, spoons! Our top fish weighed a pound or so.

Hey Andre...that fish actually went 12 inches...our biggest from Marburg this year. Fish close to 14 inches have been caught in the past.

Jim that fish on the right looks all of 11 inches. What was it?

Does anyone know if you can stock these in your pond in Oklahoma?

Great!!Good size on a hard fighting fish .

Yes ...the standard crab cake recipe will do just fine. Just substitute your favorite fish.

So what lakes in Oklahoma have these and how did they get in there? Someone put some in their pond?

Jim, Are those white perch fish cakes the same recipe as the blue crab cakes??
Come on down next spring, I posted some pic of white bass my daughter and I caught. Might only catch crappie, they come up the creek. You just never know we can keep going back til we catch white bass. Sept. and Oct. white bass are in the shallows in the lake at the swim beach here. Bring your long rod also.

Actually, they are considered a 'nusiance' fish in some of the areas I fish too because they overpopulate and thus ruin the balance of existing panfish species...very prolific. I can think of at least 3 reservoirs in my area where they have disrupted the panfishing. Sorry to hear that they are invading some of your waters and likely causing the same problems we have had on some of our lakes.

I do hope to one day catch a big white bass of about 18 inches or more...I'll have to travel for that one!

Jim, Jen is right the white perch was illegally introduced in Kansas and have migrated to Oklahoma. They are considered and invasive fish and are supposed to be removed from the water if you catch one. I don't know if I have caught any they look alot like a Sand Bass.
